Shlomit Kriger
I am a journalist, poet, visual artist, and artist-educator. In 2005 I coordinated the 6th Annual Creative Writing Contest for the Homeless through the humanitarian organization Ve’ahavta. That meaningful experience inspired me to further explore how the arts can be used to help people express themselves, become empowered, and heal. I took courses in expressive arts therapy (ISIS Canada) and arts education (The Royal Conservatory School). In addition, I compiled and edited the book Marking Humanity: Stories, Poems, & Essays by Holocaust Survivors (Soul Inscriptions Press) and spoke about its lessons with various community groups. In 2014 Volume 11 of Women in Judaism featured my poem “Getting Past the Mounds.”
