Petra has had a serious interest in art since her early teens, but, the pursuit of her calling as an exotic bird and pet veterinarian became all-encompassing for a quarter century as she established her exotic pet practice and wrote numerous books and articles on the subject of exotic pet medicine. The time finally came when she could reawaken her artistic side, and she began painting again about ten years ago, studying with numerous watercolour artists as she strove to fully appreciate the nature of the medium and the work of the best Canadian watercolour artists of the present era. As well as watercolour painting, she enjoys gardening, traveling, and making beadwork jewellery. She is a member of the Bayview Watercolour Society, and has been exhibiting her paintings in juried shows for almost ten years. Her paintings are in numerous private collections in Europe, throughout the United States, and across Canada.
