The White House

The first of April in the Crowsnest Pass of Alberta, Canada, a wet snow fell. I found this spot down in a valley, looking west to the Rocky Mountains. In the distance is Turtle Mountain, where the Frank Slide happened. The tip is gone. I was well into the painting when I realized there was a white house tucked in along the Crowsnest River. It was a beautifully warm spring day with the golden grasses of the year before, some of which were covered with snow.
